Development of Mirror Neuron System-based BCI System using Steady-State Visually Evoked Potentials
On the Detection of Steady - State Visually Evoked Potentials
In this paper we develop a new method, based on the periodogram of a time-series, for the detection of steady-state VEPs. The method tests the data for the presence of hidden periodic components, which correspond to steady-state VEPs.
Steady State Visually Evoked Potentials detection using a single electrode consumer-grade EEG device for BCI applications
Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) implement a direct communication pathway between the brain of an user and an external device, as a computer or a machine in general. One of the most used brain responses to implement non-invasive BCIs is the so called steady-state visually evoked potential (SSVEP). This periodic response is generated when an user gazes to a light flickering at a constant frequen...
Influence of stimuli color on steady-state visual evoked potentials based BCI wheelchair control
In recent years, Brain Computer Interface (BCI) systems based on Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential (SSVEP) have received much attention. This study tries to develop a SSVEP based BCI system that can control a wheelchair prototype in five different positions including stop position. In this study four different flickering frequencies in low frequency region were used to elicit the SSVEPs and ...
Modulation of the N30 generators of the somatosensory evoked potentials by the mirror neuron system
The N30 component of the somatosensory evoked potential is known to be modulated by sensory interference, motor action, movement ideation and observation. We introduce a new paradigm in which the observation task of another person's hand movement triggers the somatosensory stimulus, inducing the N30 response in participants. In order to identify the possible contribution of the mirror neuron ne...
